If you are using ASIO4ALL, the built-in Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth software device might interfere with ASIO audio processing:
Try disabling this software device through the Device Manager (refer to chapter Disable unnecessary hardware in Windows Device Manager for more information on how to do this):
Right click on this device and select Disable. Check if the problem is solved.
